🏆 Honoring Kittie Knox’s Legacy
Kittie Knox was a trailblazing Black cyclist in the 1890s who challenged both racial and gender barriers at a time when the League of American Wheelmen enacted policies to exclude her. Despite being denied entry into spaces she had earned, she stood firm, cycling with dignity and style. Her courage and resilience in the face of exclusion laid a powerful foundation for what leadership can look like when driven by purpose and passion. Today, Black Girls Do Bike honors that legacy through training programs like The Knox Academy, which equips women with the skills and certifications to lead, instruct, and transform their communities through cycling—ensuring that what once tried to silence us now becomes a platform for empowerment and progress.
